![]() I only wanted to go in to get an idea of what she wanted, LOL. So we walked out of Academy with two of those and the fist Buck for $150 plus tax. She decides to buy not one, but both of the Matt Would Go knives (all they had).and yeah, she will get that other one also.īTW, that Matt Would Go knife is marked down to <$50 also. Well, stupid me thinking we get the good deal on the first Buck because it is marked down and I think that is what she has been looking for. I am dying over here thinking that this knife will out live both her and everybody she knows, and has probably better steel than all her other stuff put together. She asks the clerk how durable this knife would be, LOL. W.T.F.? You really considering one of those for the kitchen and general duties? That's a combat/survival knife. Then I hear, 'I like it', 'It feels good', "my mom would probably like it'. Now, myself, I am thinking.so how much is this beautiful blade marked down to? This is the woman who would not shoot her AR until I replaced all the plastic with wood, you really think she is going to like this thing? It does not matter if a Navy SEAL designed this thing, and the proceeds benefit charity. I am thinking, dude what the heck are you trying to sell her. I turn to investigate and she is holding this knife. Couple more boxes come out of the case and she is fiddling with something over there. Well herself is still talking to the nice gentleman working the counter and has asked about other clearance knives he brought out today. Better conversation for me as knives are not really as strong a focus for me as guns are. Less than the 'combination' packages by Mossberg he has been looking at. He's set for deer season with a nice rig for less than $350 including case, ammo, sling, etc. He is buying a Vortex scope and they are mounting it for him. I am done, finished, did my job, found the knife and start talking to the guy about his new rifle and getting the story. She starts handling the display, feeling the heft, etc. ![]() She has a jewerly box made of Cocobolo she absolutely loves. Right now I am thinking, home run, this thing is on clearance for <$50. He describes it to her, brass, cocobolo handles, leather sheath, etc. Gun guy moves down so we can see all the knives inside the case. No, but got this one from the back this morning with a few other clearance knives that I can show you, it's just about the same knife with different handle and trim pieces. Ask clerk if he has one of these out of box. Rifleman is blocking the knife counter so we really can't see what is in it. 30-06 bolt action rifle, synthetic stock, clearance priced at $139.00!!! No, you can't get one as he got the last one in the Houston area as we would have bought 2 if they had any more.Ģnd clerk comes down, older gentleman, and asks if we need help. Sales clerk busy with a nice guy who is getting a hell of a deal on a Savage. Ok, off to the gun counter to find a clerk and see if they have one outside the package. Herself: 'Don't know, need to feel it outside the package' Me: 'So is this something you would like?' ![]() Popular knife since it came out decades ago. Pulled out a Buck hunting knife, you all know the one, black handle, stainless blade, aluminum guard and trim. that she likes so that I could then have something to present to makers for a custom job.įirst stop was the knife aisle with all the stuff in the blister packs. Decided to stop by Academy today and see if we could find a style, length, etc.
